I wish everyone reading this article could be in a place of hope, planning to enter “2018” in that state, no matter what challenges you faced in “2017”.
Let’s meet at the table of hope. Let’s embrace the promises of God;
- that he would take care of you;
- that he would not give you more than you can bear;
- that he would not leave you lonely;
- that he would give you strength when you are weak;
- that he will lead you in green pastures and through the shadow of the valley of death;
- that you can trust in Him, no matter your circumstances;
- that he would deliver you from the temptation and the traps of the Devil;
- that his thoughts of you are high and he has your future all planned out;
- and finally that his Holy Spirit would always be with you to teach and comfort you.
These are God’s promises to those who choose to believe that he is The only way to righteousness, genuine joy and complete quenching of our human thirst.
My heart is sad because I know that some would reject what God is offering, the richness of his glory will be scoffed at and that hurts. If only, I can do something about it!
Then I am reminded of hope, hope that comes from above, hope that is established because Jesus dared the cross. Hope that says, Jesus Loves YOU and He never gives up on anyone!
This is the HOPE that inspires me to inspire you to pursue God’s best for you, don’t settle for less, don’t believe the critiques, the faithless and the bitter ones in your life whose lack of experience with God has them doubtful.
I don’t know what your “2017” story may have been or is. Whether it is that you lost your house in a fire, or a loved one died, or you are going through a dreadful divorce, or your mother deserted you, or your church family deserted you, when you needed them the most. Whatever! Whatever! It does not matter. I am screaming to you “it doesn’t matter”, as far as God is concerned. You are still valuable to him, it is just that you need his attention more than ever and you need to listen to him more than ever, because he has something to say to you.
My prayer is that the pain and disappointments of “2017” is seen as a stepping stone to greater.
Let’s walk into “2018” determined to walk with God, to give up the things that have no bearing on our spiritual growth, on the unveiling of our true purpose. Let’s lose the drama, that so easily distract us and set our minds on the things above, the lasting, meaningful things, in this life, that allows us to release what is deep down in our hearts, what has been planted by God himself. Let us dare to step out in faith and be free, in the Holy Spirit’s basin of spirit-filled experiences, that will blow our minds to soberness and send thrills down our spines that would make the crookedness straight.
Oh Jesus, may we get it! may we get it Lord Jesus! May we understand that you got it all worked out and may we trust you with every aspect of our lives and see you do wonders in our midst.
Walk with God and expect great things in “2018”.
